Frequency regulation in adaptive virtual inertia and power reserve control with high PV penetration by probabilistic forecasting

چکیده
The large-scale deployment of sustainable energy sources has become a mandatory goal to reduce pollution from electricity production. As photovoltaic (PV) plants replace conventional synchronous generators (SGs), their significant inherent rotational inertia characteristics are reduced. high penetration PV results in reduced system inertia, leading frequency instability. Virtual inertial control (VIC) technology attracted increasing interest because its ability mimic inertia. Adoption the storage (ESS) is hindered by cost, although it can be used provide virtual determined forecast gives PVs reserve power before shading and compensate when drop occurs, which increase Nevertheless, errors waste stable state. To improve stability microgrid ESS efficiency, this study proposes an adaptive forecasting-based (AFB) VIC method using probabilistic forecasts. proposed simulation reveal that reserved power, required capacity, battery aging.

Grid Inertia and Frequency Control in Power Systems with High Penetration of Renewables
With increasing power generation out of renewable energy sources, there is a rising interest to investigate their impact on the power system and its control. In this paper, both the impact on frequency control and the capability to deliver frequency support by renewables is presented. A test grid is used to also investigate the variation of system inertia as a function of time. It is shown that...
متن کاملAn Optimal Virtual Inertia Controller to Support Frequency Regulation in Autonomous Diesel Power Systems with High Penetration of Renewables
This paper addresses the problem of frequency control in autonomous diesel-based power system with high penetration of renewables. Usually, small power systems with high penetration of renewable energies are supplied by one or two small diesel generators, resulting in a system with a relatively low moment of inertia, and which can be susceptible to significant frequency variations. However, fre...
متن کاملFrequency Control in Power Systems with High Wind Power Penetration
The fluctuating nature of wind power introduces several challenges to reliable operation of power system. With high wind power penetration, conventional power plants are displaced and wind speed fluctuations introduce large power imbalances which lead to power system frequency control and operational problems. This paper analyses the impact of wind power in the frequency control of power system...
